Bits & pieces from Hawaii

Aloha! It's been a great time in Hawaii, but haven't had much time to do Internetty stuff, what with work and the limited access to 'puters.

  • The flight here was great. I flew Japan Airlines, and on the second leg of the journey, got upgraded to executive class, with nice big comfy seats and giant footrests. The foldout screens were very good too. Felt like real business traveller.
  • During the stopover, I saw Anthony Bourdain striding away to his gate to catch his plane. I stopped and stared, but didn't have the guts to go over and say hi and ask for a picture. Also, he looked like he was in a rush. But squeeee! Anthony Bourdain! I love his books!
  • Hawaii is hot but nowhere near as humid as S'pore. The weather cools down a lot during the night and there's a nice breeze going. If S'pore were more like this, I would have far less complaints.
  • I've been to Honolulu before, so didn't bother with all the sightseeing things, so during my free time, I only did important things, like go to the beach at Waikiki, and go shopping. The Ala Moana mall is huge. I'm getting a real Gold Coast vibe in this place too. The casual beachy style, the flip-flops, the tanned and sunburnt lobster people....it's all the same.
  • The number of Japanese people here is astounding! Walking down Waikiki could be like walking along a street in Japan. There are lots of little ramen places to eat (cheap and tasty too), and the big brand shops like Prada, LV, Gucci, Dior which they love to shop at. And I keep getting mistaken for a Japanese! Must be my Kuchiki Rukia haircut...hehehe.
And tomorrow, I'm off to Maui! More another day...

Lucky you!

So the dress nice nice trick does work w.r.t. getting upgrades eh?

Many years ago, I went to Hawaii during NS for training.. JAL allowed smoking in their flights then, and it was a bloddy torture!!

And weather there is super! At 6:30am when we did our runs, there was nice cool mist...

And Japanese babes - oh yeah...

More updates!!!

Woof!: This is the first time I've been upgraded, it's very exciting! But you know, I wasn't dressed nice nice. I was wearing jeans!

AKK: Oh yes, oh yes they are! I shopped like mad! :P

Lancerlord: Yes, it was sooo crowded! That's why I steered clear of Surfers when I was in Oz. Too many people!
